Verified Purchase When you're the person who saves serial killer documentaries and podcasts to watch/listen to after you've caught up on all the others you saved previously to watch - then you know you've found the right book in the S.K. Series by Savanna Loy. This book was immediately addictive and hard to put down. The introduction to our serial killer Jed was intense and his character "development" was satisfactory as he battles with his past trauma and struggles to overcome his current trauma. It's almost scary to write that he's a bit relatable, especially with his family dynamic. Unexpectedly, Loy surprises us by weaving in the introduction and background of Jonah and Mackenzie Hudson - who they are and how they will cross paths to take on this case of the "Newport Noose"! It ends on a massive cliffhanger that has me impatiently waiting on the next book!!

Savannah has branched off into a different genre so I wasn’t sure about this book. I’m so glad I bought it AND read it! Warning: don’t read this late at night by yourself. Turn on lots of lights, curl up in a corner facing the door with your favorite snack. You won’t regret it!

Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2024 Regardless of if you enjoy serial killer / thriller stories or not, chances are this book will hook you right away and present a compelling case to keep on reading just one more chapter and one more chapter… Case in point: I typically don’t read serial killer stories, but this one had its claws in me right from the start. So I can only imagine that if you are someone who enjoys serial killer stories, podcasts, documentaries, etc, then this book should definitely entice you. It does an excellent job getting inside the head of our resident killer, Jedidiah Walker, and his journey throughout the story is as compelling as it is unnerving. On the other side of things we have Jonah Hudson and Mackenzie Ruiz - resident FBI agents who, alongside their coworkers, get thrust into the terrors Jedidiah leaves in his wake. All characters are excellently developed, easy to relate to or understand, and really come to life on the page. Just remember - this is the first book in a series, and it does not shy away from a TWIST cliffhanger ending that will absolutely leave you wanting more! Short version: this book is incredible, and I’m in this series for the long haul! Can’t wait to see how things progress in the next book!

Things you probably don’t know…

I am a foster momma with six kiddos. They are ages 3-8 and they are all so different. When wo go places, people like to ask me if we are a Sunday School or Field Trip group-NOPE, just my family.

I married the boy I have loved since I was 16. He is now a travel nurse and was a COVID nurse when things were super scary, and I am just thankful he stayed healthy.

I previously worked as a 911 dispatcher/hostage negotiator, turned Christian School Principal (Same training), and now I get to SAHM and work as a social media manager, book coach, public speaker, and am diving deep into my dream of being a published author.

1. What Inspired You to Write This Book?

I wrote this book because I love stories. The Harry Potter series is a favorite of mine, and its combination of creativity, magic, and suspense was inspiring to me. I find being immersed in a story and invested in what’s to come very exciting, so I wanted to create something that would allow readers to do just that.

2. What will your readers gain from your book?

In addition to being entertained, I hope my readers will see characters in difficult circumstances and feel they’re not alone in their real-life struggles. I hope that my characters’ ability to find a way forward will inspire readers to look for silver linings and that their successes as a team and struggles when divided show readers the importance of togetherness.

3. What was your unique quotient for this project?

One thing that makes my story unique is the shift in perspective. Readers get to see the events of the book unfold through the eyes of a variety of characters. This provides readers with additional information and adds layers to the story. Readers get to know each character a little more while developing a more complete picture of what’s happening in the book.

4. How did becoming an author help in your brand/business?

Becoming an author has opened the door to new opportunities. It allowed me to express my creativity in a way that helped me connect with different people and be a part of a new community. Through social media, in-person events, and more, I’ve had the chance to meet new people, share new experiences, and even support other authors in their journeys to become published.

5. What are your future plans as an author?

Moving forward, I will continue writing The Rodney Brothers series. I have a lot more of this story to give, and I’m excited to see my first two books continue to evolve.
