A thoroughly engaging, if somewhat horrific and graphic book in it depiction of violence. It reimagines a world of the future where aliens invade and devastate it, and when it reemerges it is divided into different fractions that it is presently. Amongst the survivors of the invasion, is Gracie, and what follows is her captivity and the absolute horror of it. The writer does not spare the reader. It is graphic. If you are a fan of horror, and sci-fi horror, then this is probably the book for you.

The novel accomplishes something remarkable: it makes you feel the existential terror of humanity's potential extinction while exploring the subtle nuances of inter-species understanding. The world-building is extraordinary. Set in 2085, the novel feels futuristic and disturbingly plausible. Gracie Pinto's journey is not just a narrative of survival, but a complex psychological exploration of adaptation and hope in the face of unimaginable horror. Iris's prose is unflinching. Yet she manages to infuse moments of unexpected tenderness and connection with brutal circumstances. The relationship between Gracie and the alien defies conventional storytelling, creating an emotionally resonant, thought-provoking narrative. Intriguingly, the novel even weaves in subtle references that echo contemporary cultural touchstones - I was particularly fascinated by the nods to latter-day Elvis Presley sightings, for example – still pertinent. The Maredian is an engaging sci-fi dystopian novel that blends the intensity of an alien invasion with deep emotional themes. I typically don’t read this genre, but I did enjoy the book and would recommend it!

The Maredian, is a dystopian/sci-fi that takes place in Toronto in the year 2085. Overall I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I didn't expect it to have the amount of unexpected turns, and surprises. There are themes of loss but there is also redemption. Some violence in Part 2, when humans are abducted, but just in a few pages, it's not throughout. If you were a kid of the 80's, you also will recognize a lot of items mentioned in Part three, without saying anything further on how that fits in a plot from 2085 . Also the ending ties into the revelations. I recommend giving it a go and you will be amused and entertained.

1. What Inspired You to Write This Book?

I wrote this book because I love stories. The Harry Potter series is a favorite of mine, and its combination of creativity, magic, and suspense was inspiring to me. I find being immersed in a story and invested in what’s to come very exciting, so I wanted to create something that would allow readers to do just that.

2. What will your readers gain from your book?

In addition to being entertained, I hope my readers will see characters in difficult circumstances and feel they’re not alone in their real-life struggles. I hope that my characters’ ability to find a way forward will inspire readers to look for silver linings and that their successes as a team and struggles when divided show readers the importance of togetherness.

3. What was your unique quotient for this project?

One thing that makes my story unique is the shift in perspective. Readers get to see the events of the book unfold through the eyes of a variety of characters. This provides readers with additional information and adds layers to the story. Readers get to know each character a little more while developing a more complete picture of what’s happening in the book.

4. How did becoming an author help in your brand/business?

Becoming an author has opened the door to new opportunities. It allowed me to express my creativity in a way that helped me connect with different people and be a part of a new community. Through social media, in-person events, and more, I’ve had the chance to meet new people, share new experiences, and even support other authors in their journeys to become published.

5. What are your future plans as an author?

Moving forward, I will continue writing The Rodney Brothers series. I have a lot more of this story to give, and I’m excited to see my first two books continue to evolve.
