About The Author

Santiago is a Puerto Rican, queer author raised in New Jersey and relocated to Orlando Florida when he was 17 years-old. He graduated from University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s in Creative Writing in 2015. Santiago is a former teacher who continues to work in the education system and has been creatively writing since he was a child. His first published novel, American Oxygen, is a four part series. 1. What Inspired You to Write This Book?

I wrote this book because I love stories. The Harry Potter series is a favorite of mine, and its combination of creativity, magic, and suspense was inspiring to me. I find being immersed in a story and invested in what’s to come very exciting, so I wanted to create something that would allow readers to do just that.

2. What will your readers gain from your book?

In addition to being entertained, I hope my readers will see characters in difficult circumstances and feel they’re not alone in their real-life struggles. I hope that my characters’ ability to find a way forward will inspire readers to look for silver linings and that their successes as a team and struggles when divided show readers the importance of togetherness.

3. What was your unique quotient for this project?

One thing that makes my story unique is the shift in perspective. Readers get to see the events of the book unfold through the eyes of a variety of characters. This provides readers with additional information and adds layers to the story. Readers get to know each character a little more while developing a more complete picture of what’s happening in the book.

4. How did becoming an author help in your brand/business?

Becoming an author has opened the door to new opportunities. It allowed me to express my creativity in a way that helped me connect with different people and be a part of a new community. Through social media, in-person events, and more, I’ve had the chance to meet new people, share new experiences, and even support other authors in their journeys to become published.

5. What are your future plans as an author?

Moving forward, I will continue writing The Rodney Brothers series. I have a lot more of this story to give, and I’m excited to see my first two books continue to evolve.
